13th International Glasgow Neuro Conference
Our 13th International Neuro Conference took place at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, bringing together neurosurgeons, neurologists and neuroradiologists from Harvard, Stanford, Toronto and closer to home. The day combined expert talks with five hands-on workshops, poster presentations and networking sessions.

Our 13th Annual Conference welcomed five speakers from leading institutions across the world, spanning neurosurgery, neurology and neurointervention. Each brought a distinct perspective on their field, from functional neurosurgery to the evolution of clinical neurology.

CV Workshop
At the 2025 Glasgow Neuro International Conference, we introduced the UK’s first dedicated Neurosurgery National Selection CV Clinic — providing aspiring neurosurgeons with personalised, one-to-one portfolio guidance from doctors who had recently succeeded in the national selection process.
Rather than a conventional careers lecture, delegates were paired directly with recently appointed run-through neurosurgery trainees for individualised CV and portfolio review, followed by an interactive Q&A exploring national selection, portfolio development, interview preparation and longer-term career strategy.
The workshop was overseen by 8 recently appointed run-through neurosurgery trainees, creating an exceptional concentration of recent national selection experience in one room.

The CV Workshop reflected the Glasgow Neuro International Conference's broader ambition: to go beyond traditional conference teaching and create opportunities that directly influence delegates’ education, skills, and future careers.
Through the UK’s first dedicated Neurosurgery National Selection CV Clinic, the 2025 conference offered attendees something rarely available at student conferences — personalised access to a large group of recently successful neurosurgery applicants and practical guidance tailored to their own path towards a national training number.
Hands-on Workshops
Delegates participated in four additional hands-on workshops spanning neurosurgery, spinal surgery, neurophysiology and interventional neuroradiology. Each session paired practical training with guidance from specialists working in the field.
CRANIOTOMY AND BURR HOLE
Delegates practised craniotomy and burr hole technique on surgical models under the guidance of the sponsor's clinical team.
SPINE PEDICLE SCREW PLACEMENT
Delegates worked through pedicle screw placement on models under consultant guidance, refining technique for spinal instrumentation.
INTERVENTIONAL NEURORADIOLOGY
Delegates tried catheter navigation on the Mentice simulator, the technology used to train specialists in treating stroke and brain aneurysms. No prior experience was needed.
NERVE CONDUCTION STUDIES
A live demonstration of routine sensory and motor nerve conduction studies of the upper limb, showing how neurophysiology testing supports diagnosis.

Mr Andreas Demetriades
He specialises in skull base and complex spine surgery, with fellowship training at Keio University, Tokyo, and the Technical University Hospital, Munich. He served as President of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies from 2021 to 2023.
Consultant Interventional Neuroradiologist at the Institute of Neurological SciencesÂ
Dr Izzath trained in Glasgow and Oxford before joining the Glasgow team as consultant in 2018. He treats aneurysms, arteriovenous fistulas and cerebral venous disorders through minimally invasive techniques, and trains the next generation of clinicians in interventional neuroradiology.

Neurophysiology Specialty Registrar at the Institute of Neurological Sciences
Dr Saul Crandon
He is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Glasgow and gained international experience in brain injury rehabilitation in Australia. He currently serves as President of the Association of Trainees in Clinical Neurophysiology.
